Jeff Chilton should have become a high school band director after graduating from Ithaca College in upstate NY. Instead he took an Amtrak train to Portland, OR with naught but a trombone at his side and an acoustic guitar on his back. The soggy jazz soaked dirt of Portland proved creatively fertile and after meeting fellow artists Corey Heppner, Lucas James, and JD Erickson, Chilton took on the moniker Jay Si and created the musical organism Jay Si Proof, bringing their “silly and euphoric vibe” (Portland Mercury) up and down the west coast. Jay Si Proof is described as "earth jazz alchemists" by Vortex Magazine and has been featured twice on PDX Pop Now, ranked in the Mercury's top music videos of 2024, and performed at countless PNW music festivals.
